About
Hi, I’m Heather Cameron.
I grew up in Bahrain, a small island in the Persian Gulf, before moving to the U.K. for my teen years.
I taught elementary school in Canada, raised a bundle of children (blended family), then returned to U.B.C. Vancouver for an M.F.A. in Creative Writing.
My thesis was a YA Historical Fantasy set in fourth century Ireland, currently in search of a publisher, and I also write poetry, fiction, memoir and creative non fiction.
I love to cross country ski, take long walks with my German Shepherd, and reclaim, on the small scale represented by the back lane behind our house, previously-wild spaces from invasive weeds. I try to reframe this as a form of outdoor meditation conducive to writing with varying results.
